Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started with Content Drifter?

Getting started is easy! Simply sign up for a free account, connect your social media platforms, and start generating content. Our AI will help you create engaging posts tailored to your brand.

What platforms does Content Drifter support?

Content Drifter supports eight platforms: X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, and YouTube. You can connect all eight and publish content to each with platform-specific formatting, rules, and media constraints handled automatically. See the per-platform connect guides at /help/connect-accounts for prerequisites and walkthroughs.

How does AI content generation work?

Our AI analyzes your business information, industry, target audience, and brand voice to generate platform-specific content that resonates with your audience. You can save custom presets for tone, style, and content type to maintain consistent brand voice.

Can I schedule posts in advance?

Yes! Content Drifter includes a full calendar feature where you can schedule posts for any date and time. Our Smart Scheduling feature can also suggest the best times to post based on industry data and AI analysis.

What is Smart Scheduling?

Smart Scheduling is our AI-powered timing engine. Free users get industry-standard "Gold Slot" recommendations. Starter plan users can request AI time suggestions with a single click. Pro and Agency users unlock Full Auto-Pilot mode, which automatically schedules posts at optimal times, respects your blackout windows, and can batch-optimize your entire content calendar.

What are marketing campaigns?

Marketing campaigns are a Pro and Agency feature for planning structured social content across one or more brands. You can set a 7- or 30-day horizon, use templates as a starting point, and keep campaigns organized per brand. Full AI intake, blueprint editing, and batch generation into your calendar continue to roll out in the product; see the Campaigns tab in your dashboard and the guide at https://www.contentdrifter.com/guides/marketing-campaigns for the latest.

How do I access marketing campaigns?

Sign in, open the dashboard, and select the Campaigns tab (megaphone icon). You need a Pro or Agency plan to create brands and campaigns; Free and Starter users see an overview and can upgrade from there. Pricing details are on the Pricing page.

What happens if I exceed my plan limits?

You'll receive a notification when you're approaching your limits. When you hit your monthly quota, you can either upgrade your plan or buy on-demand credits (50 for $5, 200 for $15, or 500 for $29). Credits are used automatically when your plan quota is exhausted and never expire.

Is my data secure?

Yes. Traffic is encrypted in transit with TLS, application data is encrypted at rest in a managed Postgres database, and OAuth tokens are stored encrypted server-side. Your post content and engagement only shape the prompt context for your own account; we do not train any shared cross-customer model on your data. See https://www.contentdrifter.com/security for full details on data handling, OAuth scopes, and retention.

How do I connect my social media accounts?

Go to Dashboard → Platforms, then click "Connect" on the platform you want to add. Each card has a "What you'll need" expander right above the Connect button that walks you through prerequisites, the OAuth (or Bluesky app-password) flow, and common fixes. We support X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, and YouTube. If you admin multiple LinkedIn or Facebook pages, you'll see a picker — choose the right brand page, then confirm. For the long-form per-platform walkthrough, see /help/connect-accounts.

How do I connect Bluesky? What is an app password?

Bluesky's AT Protocol doesn't support OAuth yet, so instead of a redirect-and-authorize flow you generate an app-scoped password and paste it into Content Drifter. Step-by-step: (1) open https://bsky.app/settings/app-passwords, (2) click Add App Password and name it "Content Drifter", (3) copy the generated 16-character password (formatted like xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx), (4) back in Content Drifter click Connect on the Bluesky card and enter your handle (e.g. yourname.bsky.social) plus the app password. App passwords are revocable independently of your main password, so revoking Content Drifter later won't affect your account login. If you see "Invalid session — please try again" on the Outstand connect screen, that means the session URL expired (they're short-lived) — close the tab and click Connect again to mint a fresh URL.

Advanced: why does the permission screen sometimes show a different brand name?

Most users will never need to think about this. Content Drifter publishes through OAuth applications registered with each social network. The screen displayed by the network shows whoever registered the underlying app. If you are an advanced user who wants the OAuth screen to display your own brand instead of the default app, you can use the bring-your-own-keys (BYOK) flow: create an app in each platform's developer portal with your own name and logo, then register those client credentials in your dashboard. This is optional and only needed when you want fully white-labeled OAuth screens.

Can I edit AI-generated content?

Yes! All generated content is fully editable. You can modify the text, add emojis, change hashtags, and customize it before scheduling or publishing. You can also edit posts during the final review step before they go live.

What content types are supported?

Content Drifter supports text posts, image posts, stories, reels, and carousels depending on the platform. Each platform enforces its own content rules: character limits, image dimensions, and aspect ratios are validated automatically.
