Social media competitor tracking

What your niche published,
and what actually worked

The fastest way to know what to write is to see what already landed for someone else this week. Track the accounts you compete with and open on a ranked digest of their best posts, refreshed every day.

Content Drifter tracks the accounts you compete with and refreshes each one daily across Reddit, any RSS or Atom feed, YouTube, Bluesky and Mastodon. The tab opens on a weekly digest: the highest-engagement posts across everyone you track from the last seven days, so the first thing you see is what is worth reacting to. Available on Pro and Agency, with the number of tracked accounts set by your plan.

The digest is the first thing you see

The tab does not open on a list of accounts to click through. It opens on the last seven days of posts from everyone you track, ranked by engagement, so the answer to “what is working in my niche right now” is on screen before you have done anything.

That ordering is the whole design. A competitor list you have to excavate is a competitor list nobody opens twice.

Sources including the ones nobody else reads

Reddit accounts and subreddits, any RSS or Atom feed, Bluesky handles and Mastodon accounts, and YouTube channels. The feed reader matters more than it sounds: it means a competitor’s blog, a newsletter with a public archive, a changelog or a podcast feed are all trackable next to their social accounts, in the same digest.

Paste a URL, an @handle or a bare handle. All three resolve to the same stored account, so you cannot end up tracking one competitor twice under three spellings and spending three slots on them.

Refreshed daily, on our schedule not your memory

Every tracked account is refreshed once a day by a background job. There is also a per-row refresh for when something is breaking and you want it now, rate limited server side, because a refresh button with no ceiling is a way to spend somebody else’s API quota until they cut you off.

This is not social listening, deliberately

Social listening scans the whole internet for mentions of your brand and is priced for companies with a communications department. This watches a list you chose and reports what they published that worked.

It answers “what should I write”, not “who is talking about me”. If you need the second one, a dedicated listening tool is the honest recommendation and we would rather say so.

From their post to your draft

Finding a post that worked is only half of it. The strategist reads your own numbers alongside it, and the hook library turns an angle into an opening line, so a competitor’s idea becomes your post rather than a browser tab you meant to come back to.

On Pro and Agency

Free and Starter see the feature with an upgrade card rather than a hidden tab, because a capability you cannot find is a capability you will never upgrade for. How many accounts you can track is set by your plan and listed on pricing.

The ceiling, and what happens at it

Competitor accounts tracked, read from our billing configuration when this page rendered.

Not includedNot included525

Free and Starter carry zero, so this is a gate rather than a ceiling. Above it the count is per workspace, not per seat, so an agency watching 25 accounts is watching 25 in total rather than 25 each.

Numbers read from billing at render. Behaviour checked against the code that enforces it, 25 August 2026.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What can I track?

Reddit accounts and subreddits, any RSS or Atom feed, YouTube channels, Bluesky handles and Mastodon accounts. Paste a URL, an @handle or a bare handle: all three resolve to the same account, so you cannot accidentally track one competitor twice. If a source is ever unavailable the tab says so plainly rather than leaving you with an empty row.

How often does it refresh?

Every tracked account refreshes once a day on a schedule, and you can refresh one by hand when something is breaking. The manual refresh is rate limited, because a refresh button with no ceiling is a way to spend somebody elses API quota.

What is the weekly digest?

The top posts by engagement across everything you track, from the last seven days, ranked. It sits at the top of the tab so the answer to what is working in my niche right now is the first thing on screen rather than something you assemble by scrolling.

Which plans include competitor tracking?

Pro and Agency. Free and Starter see the feature with an upgrade card rather than a hidden tab, because a capability you cannot find is a capability you will not upgrade for. The tracked-account limit comes from your plan.

Is this social listening?

No, and the distinction matters. Social listening scans the internet for mentions of your brand and is priced accordingly. This watches a list of accounts you chose and tells you what they published that worked. It answers what should I write rather than who is talking about me.
