Bio Generator for Instagram, X, LinkedIn and More

A bio generator drafts the short text at the top of your profile. This one writes two bios for each network you pick, from what you tell it about you or your business, and counts each against the network’s own limit, from 80 characters on TikTok to 2,600 in LinkedIn’s About section.

It uses only what you type. A detail you leave out will not appear in the bio.

How to write a bio with this bio generator

  1. Tell us who you are

What you do, who it is for, one detail that is true. The writer uses only those facts and leaves out what it was not told.

  2. Pick up to four networks and a tone

A bio is a different size on every network, so each is written to its own limit, with line breaks where the network shows them.

  3. Add your voice, if you like

Paste your website address to have your tone read from one page, or type a line of your own. Nothing is stored.

  4. Edit, check the count and copy

The meter counts the way the network does and turns red with the number of characters to cut. Copy the bio you want.

Bio limits, with the page each comes from

A bio is a profile field, not a post, so its limit is not in a network's posting rules. Each figure below was read from the page linked beside it. TikTok is the exception: it publishes no bio limit, so the row says what the figure rests on. Threads, Facebook and YouTube are not listed because none of them states one on a help page we could read.

Instagram bio ideas for eight kinds of account

What this bio generator will not do

A bio is read in a second, so every line has to be true and fit.

  • Invent a credential, a client, an award or a number. A bio built on facts you did not give it is the fastest way to lose a reader.
  • Write past the limit unseen. Every bio is counted against its network’s limit and flagged in red, by how much, if it is over.
  • Print a limit it cannot source. Threads, Facebook and YouTube are left out because none of them states a bio limit on a help page we could read.
  • Add hashtags to a bio, or more than one emoji.
  • Promise anything about the future, such as “always free” or “coming soon”.

How your website sets the voice

If you add a website address, the writer reads that one page: its title, its description and the start of its visible text. It sums up how the page sounds in one line, for example “dry and specific, short sentences”, and writes in that voice. You can edit the line and write again, and a rewrite reads nothing at all.

The page is fetched through the same guarded reader our other tools use. It checks where the address really points, refuses private addresses, follows only a few redirects and stops after a few seconds. The address and the text it reads are used for that one request and are neither stored nor logged. If the page cannot be read, you are told, and the drafts use a plain voice.

Writing for one network?

These write posts for one network. A bio is written once; the posts that follow it are written every week.

Where these facts come from

Each bio limit on this page was read from the page linked here. TikTok publishes none, so its entry is a guide and says so.

  1. Add a bio to your Instagram profile, Instagram Help Center. Read . That an Instagram bio can be up to 150 characters.
  2. How to customize your profile, X Help Center. Read . That an X bio is at most 160 characters.
  3. 14 LinkedIn Profile Summary Examples (and 14 Best Practices), LinkedIn Talent Blog. Read . That the About section holds 2,600 characters at most. LinkedIn’s help article on editing the About section states no limit.
  4. Edit your profile, Pinterest Help. Read . That the bio under About can be up to 500 characters.
  5. app.bsky.actor.profile lexicon, AT Protocol (Bluesky). Read . That a profile description is limited to 256 graphemes (and 2,560 bytes).
  6. Craft creative and unique TikTok bios with these 7 tips, Sprout Social (published ). Read . That a TikTok bio is 80 characters, spaces included. TikTok’s own Help Center states no bio limit and some sources report a longer one, so we write to 80, which fits either way.

Frequently asked questions

How long can a social media bio be?

Instagram 150, X 160, LinkedIn’s About section 2,600, TikTok 80, Pinterest 500 and Bluesky 256 graphemes. Each figure comes from the network’s own page, except TikTok, which publishes none: we write to 80, the figure guides give, which fits either way. The sources are listed on this page.

What makes a good bio?

It says who it is for or what you do first, adds one concrete detail, and ends with a next step only if there is one. The generator follows that order and uses only the facts you give it, so a bio never claims a client or an award you did not mention.

Can I use line breaks and emoji in a bio?

Line breaks, yes: an Instagram bio reads faster in three short lines, and the Instagram line break tool keeps them from collapsing. The generator uses at most one emoji in a bio, because a row of them reads as noise.

Why is TikTok’s bio limit marked as not published?

TikTok’s Help Center states no bio limit. A Sprout Social guide gives 80 characters and some sources report a longer limit on newer accounts, so the generator writes to 80, which fits either way. Check the edit screen in your app.

Why are there no Threads, Facebook or YouTube bios?

None of them states a bio limit on a help page we could read, and we do not print a number we cannot source. We will add them when we can cite one.

What happens to what I type?

It goes to the model that drafts the bios and is not stored by us. If you add a website address, the tool reads that one page to pick up your tone and keeps neither the address nor the text.

Is the bio generator free?

Yes, it is free and needs no account. Every run calls a language model, so each visitor gets 8 runs a day. Sign up free to the workspace if you want more.
