To turn photos into a video, add them in the order you want and press Make my video. The tool makes a vertical 1080 x 1920 MP4 in your browser, free, with no account and no watermark, ready to upload to Instagram Reels, TikTok or YouTube Shorts. Your photos never leave your device.
Loading the video tool. It makes the video in your browser, and nothing is uploaded.
How to turn photos into a video
Add your photos
Up to 20 photos in JPEG, PNG, WebP or HEIC. Use the arrows on each photo to move it earlier or later; the first photo opens the video.
Pick a shape and, if you like, a title
Keep 9:16 for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, choose 4:5 for a feed post or 1:1 for a square. A title is one line that opens the video over a plain background.
Press Make my video
Each photo slowly pushes in for 1 to 3 seconds. You watch the progress, and Stop cancels it at any point.
Download it, or schedule it
The MP4 downloads as soon as it is made. To post it, upload the file in Instagram, TikTok or YouTube, or use "Schedule it to TikTok, Reels and Shorts" to carry the same photos into Content Drifter and schedule it there.
One file for Reels, TikTok and Shorts
The video is 1080 x 1920 pixels at 30 frames per second, an MP4 with H.264 video. That is the shape all three networks prefer, and the longest video this tool makes (60 seconds) is inside the length limit of every network below.
| Network | Shape | Length | Largest file | Formats |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Instagram Reels | 9:16 vertical (Reels) | 3 seconds to 15 minutes | 300 MB | MP4 or MOV |
| TikTok | 9:16 vertical (1080×1920) | 3 seconds to 3 minutes | 4 GB | MP4 or MOV |
| YouTube Shorts | 9:16 vertical (Shorts) | up to 3 minutes | 256 GB | MP4, MOV or WebM |
These are the limits Content Drifter checks a post against before it publishes, and the same table is on the social media limits page for every network. A single photo makes a 3 second video, so the shortest video here is never under a network's minimum.
What stays on your device
The photos are read, resized to at most 2048 pixels on the long edge, drawn into the frames and encoded in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and nothing is stored when you close the page. Because the video is drawn from the pixels of your photos, the location and camera details stored inside a photo file are not in it.
One thing does leave your device, and only if you use it: a title. That single line of text is typeset on our server, which sends the title card back, and we do not keep it. If it is busy the tool says “Try again in a minute. Your video works without a title.” and makes the video without a title.
Large photos, mixed shapes and other things that go wrong
- A very large photo
- Each photo is read at the size the video needs, not at full size, so a large phone photo does not slow the page down.
- An iPhone HEIC photo
- It opens straight away in Safari. In other browsers a small converter loads the first time you add one. If a file still cannot be read, the page says so and the other photos carry on.
- Portrait and landscape together
- Every photo fills the frame, cropped around the upper middle of the picture where faces and subjects usually sit. To keep a photo whole, use the carousel tool, which shows each image uncropped.
- More photos than fit
- A video here takes up to 20 photos and 60 seconds, and 30 seconds on a phone. Extra photos are left out and the page says how many were used.
- A browser that cannot make video
- The page shows the message "This browser cannot make videos. Open Content Drifter in Chrome, Edge or Safari on a computer." and still lays your photos out as a storyboard of the video.
- Leaving while it is being made
- Nothing is stored anywhere, so the video is gone and you start again. The page says this while it works.
Frequently asked questions
How do I turn photos into a video for Reels, TikTok or Shorts?
Add your photos, put them in the order you want, keep the 9:16 shape and press Make my video. The MP4 is made in your browser at 1080 x 1920 pixels and downloads with the day's date in its name, like video-2026-10-07.mp4, ready to upload to Instagram, TikTok or YouTube Shorts.
Do my photos leave my device?
No. Your photos are read, resized and turned into a video inside your browser, and nothing is uploaded or stored. The one thing that leaves your device is an optional title: if you type one, that single line of text is typeset on our server and sent straight back, and we do not keep it. If you leave the page while the video is being made, the video is gone.
Is it free, and is there a watermark?
It is free, with no account and no watermark. At the end of the video you can switch on a small "Made with Content Drifter" card, and it is off unless you turn it on. Making videos inside the Content Drifter workspace is a paid feature, but this page never asks for it.
How many photos can I use, and how long can the video be?
Up to 20 photos and 60 seconds, or 30 seconds on a phone. Each photo stays between 1 and 3 seconds: with many photos each one is shortened to fit, never below 1 second. A single photo makes a 3 second video, which is as short as Reels and TikTok accept.
Which photo formats work, including iPhone HEIC photos?
JPEG, PNG, WebP and HEIC. HEIC photos open straight away in Safari; in other browsers a small converter loads the first time you add one. A file we cannot read is skipped with a plain message and the rest still work. Photos of different shapes are cropped to fill the frame around the upper middle of each picture, where faces and subjects usually sit.
Why does my browser say it cannot make videos?
Making an MP4 needs a browser that can encode H.264 video, and current Chrome, Edge and Safari can. If yours cannot, the page says: This browser cannot make videos. Open Content Drifter in Chrome, Edge or Safari on a computer. It still lays your photos out as a storyboard of the video, so nothing you did is wasted.
Make the next one from the post itself
In Content Drifter the video starts from the post you already wrote: its words, photos and Brand Kit, with captions, scheduled to the networks that take video. Making videos is on Lite and up, and the free days every new account starts with (3 days free) includes it.
Start for $0Free forever plan, no credit card. Every network is included.
