200-char first line of description = the snippet
Only the first ~200 characters of a YouTube description show in feed snippets and Google rich results. The rest is "above the fold" filler the algorithm reads but humans rarely see. Shorts vs long-form: different ranking signals

Shorts weight swipe-away rate + replay loops; long-form weights average view duration + click-through rate from impressions.
