Sourdough for Beginners: Bake a Loaf in a Dutch Oven

A YouTube title generator drafts the title and the description that go with a video. This one writes six title options and a description from what you tell it about the video, and counts each against YouTube’s limits: 100 characters for a title and 5,000 for a description.

Six titles and a description appear here
Each title is counted against YouTube’s 100 character limit and the description against 5,000. Over the limit is flagged in red, never trimmed.

Type what the video shows, who it is for, how long it is and one detail that sets it apart. The writer uses only what you give it and writes around anything missing.
Paste your channel or website address and the writer reads that one page and sums up your tone in a line you can edit. Or type your own line. Nothing is stored.
The titles take different angles: a plain statement, a result, a question, an audience. Each is counted against the title limit and the description against its own.
Every title and the description are editable and the meter follows your changes. Red means over the limit and says by how much. Copy the ones you want into YouTube Studio.
YouTube states two limits for the text of a video, and both are read from YouTube's own pages. A YouTube title can be 100 characters at most and a description 5,000. The aim column is the length the writer works to, which is ours and stays well inside the limit. YouTube publishes no ideal title length, and we have no source for where a title is cut off in search or on a phone, so this page does not claim one.
| Field | Limit | We aim for | Counted as | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube title | 100 | 40 to 70 characters | Counted in characters. Neither < nor > is allowed. | YouTube Helpread |
| YouTube description | 5,000 | 300 to 900 characters | YouTube Help says characters. The YouTube Data API reference says bytes, which is the same for plain English and larger with accents or emoji. | YouTube Data API reference (Google for Developers)read |
These titles and this description were written by us for this page. They are not output from the tool, and the video is invented. They show the shape the tool aims for: the subject first, a different angle in each title, and nothing in the text that was not in the box.

YouTube publishes two limits for the text and no formula for the rest. These are habits, not rules, and each one is something the writer is already told to do.
A person reads a title in a glance, in search or beside other videos. If the subject is at the end, it may be the part that does not fit on the line. Start with the thing the video teaches, shows or answers.
For beginners, for small teams, without special equipment: a phrase like that tells the right viewer the video is theirs and the wrong viewer to move on. It works only when it is true of the video.
A title that promises more than the video delivers can win a click and lose the viewer in the first minute. The writer is told to promise only what your facts support, and the six options differ in angle so you can pick the plainest one that still invites a click.
YouTube collapses a long description behind a show more control, so the first lines are what most people read. Say what the video covers and who it is for there. Put links, credits and housekeeping underneath.
The title limit is 100 characters and the description limit 5,000 on YouTube Help. The meter under each draft counts as you edit, so a change you make by hand is checked too. Aim shorter than the limit: the writer aims for 40 to 70 characters for a title.
A title is a promise the video has to keep, so the rules below are given to the writer and checked again after it answers.
If you add a website address, the writer reads that one page: its title, its description and the start of its visible text. It sums up how the page sounds in one line, for example “dry and specific, short sentences”, and writes in that voice. You can edit the line and write again, and a rewrite reads nothing at all.
The page is fetched through the same guarded reader our other tools use. It checks where the address really points, refuses private addresses, follows only a few redirects and stops after a few seconds. The address and the text it reads are used for that one request and are neither stored nor logged. If the page cannot be read, you are told, and the drafts use a plain voice.
The YouTube post generator is the page for publishing YouTube videos with Content Drifter. The others write posts for one network, for when the video needs a post on each.
Both limits on this page were read from the pages linked here. The lengths the writer aims for are ours.
A YouTube title can be up to 100 characters and a description up to 5,000, according to YouTube Help. The generator counts every title and description as you edit and flags one that is over, by how much. The sources are listed on this page.
Put what the video is about in the first words, say who it is for when that is the hook, and promise only what the video delivers. This tool writes six options that take different angles so you can compare a plain statement, a result and a question, and it aims for 40 to 70 characters.
YouTube states a limit of 100 characters and no ideal length. The writer aims for 40 to 70 characters, which is our choice and not YouTube’s. We have no source for where a title is cut off in search or on a phone, so we do not claim a number: check how your title looks in the app.
Say what the video covers and who it is for in the first lines, because YouTube collapses a long description behind a show more control. Put links and credits underneath. The writer will not invent chapters, timestamps or links, so add those yourself where they are true.
YouTube Help gives 5,000 characters, and the YouTube Data API reference gives 5,000 bytes. For plain English text they are the same. Accented letters and emoji take more than one byte, so a description with many of them can pass the byte limit first. The meter counts characters, as Help does. If you publish through the API, check the bytes as well.
It is told to use only what you type and what your website says, and to write around anything missing. It can still slip, so read every title and line before you publish. A thin brief gets plain titles, not an invented hook.
