To turn a carousel into a video, export its slides as images, add them here in order and press Make my video. Each slide is shown whole, so its words stay readable, and swiped to the next in a vertical 1080 x 1920 MP4 made in your browser. It is free, with no account and no watermark, and your slides never leave your device.
Loading the video tool. It makes the video in your browser, and nothing is uploaded.
How to turn a carousel into a video
Export your slides as images
PNG or JPEG, one file per slide. Many design tools can export every slide of a carousel at once. If your carousel is a PDF, which is what LinkedIn takes, export its pages as images first: this tool takes images, not PDFs.
Add the slides in order
Up to 20 slides. Select them all together and then use the arrows to fix the order; slide one opens the video.
Press Make my video
Each slide holds for 1 to 3 seconds and swipes to the next. The MP4 downloads when it is done.
Post it as a Reel, a TikTok or a Short
Upload the MP4 where you like, or use "Schedule it to TikTok, Reels and Shorts" to carry the slides into Content Drifter and schedule the video there.
How much of the frame each slide fills
A carousel slide is rarely the shape of a phone screen, and a video that crops it cuts off its words. This tool never crops a slide: it fits the slide whole inside the 1080 x 1920 frame and fills the rest with a soft, dimmed blur of the slide itself. Here is how much of the frame's height each common slide shape takes up.
| Slide shape | Slide size | Fills the frame’s height |
|---|---|---|
| 4:5 portrait | 1080 x 1350 | 70% |
| 1:1 square | 1080 x 1080 | 56% |
| 9:16 vertical | 1080 x 1920 | 100% |
| 16:9 landscape | 1920 x 1080 | 32% |
So a tall slide uses the screen well and a wide one leaves bands above and below it. If you design carousels for video as well as for the feed, the carousel size guide has the exact dimensions and safe zones for each network, and Content Drifter's carousel maker builds the slides in your Brand Kit.
PDFs, long slides and other limits
- A PDF carousel
- Not accepted: the tool takes images. Export the PDF pages as PNG or JPEG, then add them in order.
- Slides of different shapes
- Each one is fitted whole, so mixed shapes work. The first slide does not set the shape for the rest, as it does on Instagram.
- A slide with a lot of words
- No slide is held longer than 3 seconds, so a paragraph may go by too fast to read. Keep the words short, or split the slide in two.
- More slides than fit
- A video here takes up to 20 slides and 60 seconds, and 30 seconds on a phone. Extra slides are left out and the page says how many were used.
- HEIC and other image types
- JPEG, PNG, WebP and HEIC work. A file the browser cannot read is skipped with a plain message and the rest carry on.
- A browser that cannot make video
- The page shows "This browser cannot make videos. Open Content Drifter in Chrome, Edge or Safari on a computer." and still lays your slides out as a storyboard of the video.
Frequently asked questions
How do I turn a carousel into a video?
Export each slide of your carousel as an image, add the slides here in order and press Make my video. Each slide is shown whole for a moment and swiped to the next, in a 9:16 MP4 made in your browser.
Can I add a PDF carousel?
Not yet: this tool takes images, not PDFs. A LinkedIn carousel is a PDF, so export its pages as images first (PNG or JPEG), then add them here. Slides keep the order you give them, and you can move any slide earlier or later before you make the video.
Will the tool crop my slides?
No. Slides are shown whole, so the words on them stay readable. A slide that does not match the 9:16 frame sits in the middle over a soft, dimmed blur of itself: a 4:5 slide fills 70% of the frame's height, a 1:1 square slide 56%, and a 16:9 landscape slide 32%.
Do my slides leave my device?
No. Your slides are read, resized and turned into a video inside your browser, and nothing is uploaded or stored. The one thing that leaves your device is an optional title: if you type one, that single line of text is typeset on our server and sent straight back, and we do not keep it. If you leave the page while the video is being made, the video is gone.
How long does each slide stay on screen?
Between 1 and 3 seconds each, for up to 20 slides and 60 seconds (30 on a phone). A slide is never held longer than 3 seconds, so a slide with a paragraph of text may go by too fast to read: keep the words on each slide short, or split it in two.
Is it free, and is there a watermark?
It is free, with no account and no watermark. At the end of the video you can switch on a small "Made with Content Drifter" card, and it is off unless you turn it on. Making videos inside the Content Drifter workspace is a paid feature, but this page never asks for it.
Make the carousel and its video in one place
Content Drifter designs the carousel in your Brand Kit and turns the deck into a video from the same post, then schedules both. Making videos is on Lite and up, and the free days every new account starts with (3 days free) includes it.
Start for $0Free forever plan, no credit card. Every network is included.
