Best time to post

Best Time to Post on Twitter (X) in 2026

Wednesday and Thursday are each named by 5 of the 5 X studies that rank days, and four of the five put the best hours in the weekday morning, roughly 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Sprout Social alone points to Tuesday to Thursday afternoons.

Buffer notes that timing may matter less on X than it once did, so use these windows to choose your first two weeks of slots, then keep the ones your own results prove.

Studies last checked October 14, 2026: five publishers report X (Twitter). Every figure below links to the page it came from.

Convert the studies to your timezone

Pick where your audience is and the clock you schedule in. Every window below is something a named publisher printed; the converter only moves it between time zones and counts how many studies agree. It is not our data and it is not a prediction for your account.

Hours are shown as the studies print them, which for most is local time where the audience is. Pick a different place above to convert. SocialPilot’s LinkedIn, X and Threads pages are written in US Eastern time, so those are converted from there whatever you pick.

Most agreement: Mon 10 a.m., Tue 10 a.m., Wed 9 a.m., Fri 10 a.m., Sun 9 a.m., Sun 10 a.m., each named by 3 of 4 studies.

Where the X (Twitter) studies agree and where they split

  • Days named most: Wednesday and Thursday (5 of 5 each) and Tuesday (3 of 5).
  • Hours: Buffer, Hootsuite, CoSchedule, and SocialPilot lean to mornings and Sprout Social leans to afternoons.
  • No study ranks a weekend day among its best.

Each study is placed by the part of the day that holds most of the hours it names across the week. For the reasons the numbers differ, and the pages we did not count, see how we read the studies.

What the studies say about X (Twitter) specifically

  • Buffer’s 8.7 million posts put Tuesday at 9 a.m. first, then Wednesday at 10 a.m. and 9 a.m., call 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. the weakest window on every day, and rank Saturday worst and Friday second worst. (Buffer)
  • Sprout Social points to the afternoon instead: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 6 p.m., plus Monday 2 to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. (Sprout Social)
  • Hootsuite gives 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday to Friday, 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday, and advises against posting before 5 a.m. (Hootsuite)
  • SocialPilot’s hours are US Eastern time: 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesday, and weekends are its least favorite days. Buffer adds that exact timing may matter less on X than it did in its early days. (SocialPilot, Buffer)

Find your own best time on X (Twitter)

Your followers are the only sample that matters for your account, and the network already holds it.

  1. Open X Analytics (analytics.x.com) or Post activity in X Ads.
  2. Compare impressions and engagement rate for your recent posts against the hour each went out.
  3. Look for the hours that repeat in your best posts over a month.

Access has changed over time: X’s help page describes the dashboard as free for users with an ads account or a registration at analytics.x.com, while Buffer’s study says native X analytics sit behind X Premium. Check which applies to your account.

What our scheduler uses for X (Twitter), and where it comes from

For X (Twitter), the table’s three slots for a general account in North America are Tuesday 10 a.m., Wednesday 11 a.m. and Thursday 9 a.m., in your account’s timezone. The table is a file in our code whose header credits Sprout Social, Hootsuite and Buffer research from 2024 and 2025; the scheduler does not read the studies above, and its scores only rank the slots against each other.

On Pro and up, the scheduler also re-ranks those slots from your own last 30 days of results once a network has at least 7 measured posts.

The full account, including what it needs before it learns anything from your posts, is on the best time to post hub. Niche-by-niche slots are on the X (Twitter) scheduling page.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best time to post on Twitter (X)?

Four of five studies put the best hours in the weekday morning, roughly 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. (Buffer, Hootsuite, SocialPilot, CoSchedule). Sprout Social points to Tuesday to Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. Buffer’s 8.7 million posts name Tuesday at 9 a.m. first and call 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. the weakest window.

Wednesday and Thursday are each named by 5 of the 5 studies that rank days, then Tuesday (3). Buffer ranks Wednesday first and Saturday last with Friday second worst, and Sprout Social and SocialPilot both rank weekends last.

Is the best time to post on X different from Twitter?

No, it is the same network under its new name, and the studies treat it as one. Buffer’s and SocialPilot’s pages are both still titled Twitter/X. We use the name most people search, Twitter, with X beside it.

Do these times use my timezone?

Sprout Social, Buffer and Hootsuite read every hour as local time where the audience is. SocialPilot’s X hours are US Eastern time, and CoSchedule’s page is inconsistent. Use the converter to put each study on your own clock.
